‘Car millionaire Rick van Stippent prosecuted after crash with Lamborghini’

Car entrepreneur Rick van Stippent (30) from Heusden is being prosecuted by the Public Prosecution Service (OM) after a crash with his Lamborghini. That writes the Dagblad van het Noorden. Van Stippent was driving his car on the A28 near Rouveen in Overijssel in March last year when things went wrong: his half-million dollar car was a total loss after a collision with the crash barrier, he himself was fine.

The OM East Netherlands cannot yet confirm the news ‘in connection with the weekend’. According to the newspaper Van Stippent is being prosecuted for reckless driving. He must appear in court in Zwolle in October. Van Stippent made his fortune cleaning cars.

The accident happened in March last year when Van Stippent was on his way to the DAY1 World of Cars car event at the TT Circuit in Assen. Special cars were on display at that spot, Van Stippent’s should have been there too. “But my car never made it to that car show, unfortunately,” he told Omroep Brabant at the time.

Bump in the road
According to him, the accident happened after he drove over a bump: “At that moment I just gave it a little gas. This caused the rear to come loose for a moment. I then pulled the steering wheel briefly out of fright. A wrong action at the wrong time. If I If I hadn’t done anything, I probably would have just kept driving.”

The car crashed several times before coming to a stop. Van Stippent and a friend who was in the car with him were able to get out of the car themselves. The car was already on fire at that time. “The cabin was full of smoke.”

‘You will be put away as a criminal’
On dumper a video of the crash was shared. Van Stippent received many reactions to it. “You are almost put away as a criminal. While, I was not with a phone in my hand, had a drug test, had an alcohol test. But if you read those reactions on social media … I would have had better dead, so to speak can be.”

Van Stippent was not available for comment on Sunday.
