Union international Robin Gosens (29) made his Bundesliga debut against Mainz (4-1). The Inter Milan signing came on for Jerome Roussillon (30). Will he start for the first time in Darmstadt on Saturday (3.30 p.m.)?
Coach Urs Fischer (57) sees a small lead at Roussillon “when it comes to the processes”.
But the Swiss also says that the new players kneel in every day in training for the “best possible” implementation. Tendency? Open!
Gosens sees the competition with Roussillon as follows: “I saw what ‘Rous’ can do against Mainz on Sunday, but I also saw that with him during his time in Wolfsburg. He played at a very high level in the Bundesliga for several years.”
But Gosens didn’t come to sit on the bench at Union: “I have the right to play. I’m not hiding that. ‘Rous’ also has this claim. We push each other.”
And newcomer Kevin Volland? He will probably be used again as a joker. Fischer: “Kevin might need a little more.”
