C&A Europe brings new Chief Digital & Transformation Officer from Ikea

C&A Europe appoints Wim Blaauw as Chief Digital & Transformation Officer.

Blaauw, who will take up his new role on January 1, will strengthen the clothing retailer’s leadership team and will drive the company’s digital transformation, C&A Europe said on Tuesday.

The designated digital boss began his career in 2002 as a store manager at the furniture chain Ikea in Haarlem, the Netherlands, before taking on the role of country retail logistics manager. Within the Swedish company, he then led the business in Great Britain and Ireland as deputy CEO and was responsible for the multichannel transformation there. Most recently, he held the role of Chief Digital Officer at the Swedish chain, accelerating digitalization, leading the omni-channel strategy and bringing together retail and digitalization planning.

According to his profile on the career network Linkedin, he worked for Ikea and the Dutch franchisee Ingka Group for over 21 years. At Ingka Group, he was responsible for developing digital competence and accelerating the company’s digital transformation, according to the statement.

“I am very pleased that in Wim we were able to gain a very experienced digital expert for whom the customers are the focus,” said C&A Europe Managing Director Giny Boer. “As a leader, Wim is known for connecting people and teams to achieve the best results. I am convinced that, together with his teams, he will strengthen C&A’s digital business.”
