BVB with mixed results at the “Christmas Cup”

Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund has said goodbye to the Christmas holidays with a defeat.

The sixth-placed team in the Bundesliga lost 2-0 in the second game of the Christmas Cup in Bucharest to AC Fiorentina. The goals for the Italians were scored by Rolando Mandragora (35′) and Giacomo Bonaventura (39′). Dortmund’s Antonius Papadopoulos also saw the red card.

In the first game, World Cup driver Giovanni Reyna led BVB to 2-1 against Rapid Bucharest. The American national player scored the winning goal (50th) for BVB with a remarkable long-range shot in the tournament with games lasting two 30 minutes.

Third division player Ole Pohlmann had previously given the guests the lead (12th). In the meantime, the three-time Romanian champion equalized through Alexandru Ionita (27th).

Before the Christmas vacation starting on Monday, the Dortmund team competed with a number of World Cup participants and almost two totally different teams. Niklas Süle, Mats Hummels and Marco Reus were not present in the Romanian capital.
