After the end of the changeover phase in the major European leagues, Borussia Dortmund still found a buyer for the sales candidate Thorgan Hazard. The 30-year-old striker is moving to his native Belgium to join RSC Anderlecht, according to reports, a transfer fee of 4 million euros is due. As announced late Wednesday evening – the last day of the transfer window in Belgium – the 47-time international signed a contract until 2026.
Hazard’s sale will take Dortmund’s transfer earnings to around €112m this summer, surpassing three clubs in the Bundesliga. This is offset by expenditure of EUR 62 million. BVB only collects a fraction of the transfer fee that went to Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2019 (EUR 25 million), but also saves an annual salary of a rumored EUR 5 million – Hazard’s contract would originally have expired next summer.

Hazard, who was used for six minutes on matchday 1 of the new season and was then no longer included, is making a permanent move to his home country for the first time in his professional career. There he was active on loan at SV Zulte Waregem from 2012 to 2014 and played – play-offs included – 73 times (18 goals/26 assists) in the Jupiler Pro League. Last season he spent the second half of the season on loan at PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands.
