On live TV: BVB star surprises reporter with answer
November 26, 2025 – 12:30 a.mReading time: 2 minutes

With his two goals, Serhou Guirassy contributed significantly to Borussia Dortmund’s victory against FC Villarreal. After the game he gives himself an interview – an unexpected moment develops.
Two goals, one directly before, one shortly after half-time, overall played well: Serhou Guirassy was one of Borussia Dortmund’s best players in the 4-0 win against FC Villarreal in the Champions League. The two goals against the Spaniards were the eighth and ninth goals for the 29-year-old in all competitions this season.
The attacker is currently in top form on the pitch – and off the pitch the Guinea international also created a strange moment after the game on Tuesday evening. In the interview with Prime reporter Cayana Freeman, he patiently accepted Freeman’s questions, which were asked in good French, waited when the journalist translated his answers into German – and then suddenly spoke German himself.
The conversation developed like this:
Freeman: “Serhou Guirassy, congratulations, Féliciations. It clicked. What does this victory mean today? Que signifie cette victoire pour vous? What does this victory mean to you today?”
Guirassy: (answers in French)
Freeman: (translated) “It was an important win against a good team, we are very happy with the result.” (inquires) “You didn’t celebrate after your goals, you didn’t celebrate that much after your goals. Quelles émotions avez-vous résenti? What emotions did you feel after your goals?”
Guirassy: (answers in French)
Freeman: (translated) “Of course it’s always fun to score goals, and we played well and we worked well today.” (inquires) “C’est quoi, la difference en deuxième mi-temps? Pourquoi est-ce que vous ne jouez pas comme ça tour? What was the difference in the second half? Why don’t we play like that in the first one?”
Guirassy: (suddenly answers in German) “It’s hard to say. It’s always the coach’s words. I always try to play better. Today it was a little harder. But the important thing is the win.”
Freeman: (visibly surprised) “Perfect German, we’ll also do the last question in German: What does that mean for the team, and what does it mean for the team spirit, to create chances and score goals until the end?”
Guirassy: “If you want to be among the best clubs in the world, you have to play until the end. But yes, it was very important for the team spirit. We now have a very big and important game in Leverkusen and we have to be ready.”
Freeman: “Vous parlez très bien. Merci beaucoup, félicitations.” (English: “You speak very well. Thank you very much, congratulations.”)
