BVB star “still completely empty” after playful championship

This year, the Bundesliga club was as close to the German championship as it had been in eleven years when it last won the title. The fact that the championship trophy didn’t materialize last Saturday was due to BVB’s own 2-2 draw in the home game against 1. FSV Mainz 05. A huge shock that still has a deep impact on the protagonists.

On Monday evening, national player Marius Wolf spoke up on social media and gave an insight into his inner life: “Honestly, I’m still completely empty,” wrote the right-back on Twitter and made no secret of his huge disappointment.

“It’s eating away at me that all that and especially this brutal second half of the season wasn’t crowned,” said the 28-year-old since Saturday, who played 25 Bundesliga games for BVB last season.

Before the Mainz draw, BVB won eleven home games in a row

In the 2023 calendar year, BVB had scored a total of nine points more in the Bundesliga than FC Bayern – namely 46 to 37. Nevertheless, it was ultimately not enough for the Westphalians to win their first championship since 2012.

“The pain will definitely lessen at some point. What remains are the moments and people with whom you experience it. Your incredible, world’s best and unique fans will always be a motivation to give everything you have for this club,” added Wolf add his statement.

The native of Coburg wants to take on “a new chance” with BVB soon, “to fulfill all the unfulfilled dreams.

Before the Mainz draw, Borussia Dortmund had won 14 games at home in this Bundesliga season and scored 53:15 goals. The decisive draw last Saturday ended the BVB super series of eleven home wins in a row in the German football league.
