BVB: Speculation about Reus-Aus

Last spring, Marco Reus extended his contract with Borussia Dortmund until June 30, 2024 and gave up the captain’s armband in the process. Whether the Dortmund native will continue at BVB beyond the summer is currently questionable for several reasons.

“Bild” reports on Reus’s possible exit from his heart club after the current season.

Accordingly, BVB is planning with the designated new signing and returnee Jadon Sancho not only in his main position, the offensive wing, but also on the ten – i.e. where Reus feels most comfortable.

The resulting competition could lead to the veteran, who is no longer employed under coach Edin Terzic, receiving even less playing time in the future – and therefore being able to gather fewer arguments for continued employment at BVB, which again will only be decided after the end of the winter.

Making matters worse is Reus’ alleged role as the ringleader of an attempted coup from the team against Terzic.

As one of the spokesmen, the 34-year-old is said to have complained to BVB boss Hans-Joachim Watzke about the work of the trainer, with whom he had a close relationship not long ago.

BVB: Marco Reus fears the end of his career

The consequence: Reus warmed the bench for the entire season in the last Bundesliga game before the winter break against Mainz 05. Since then, his relationship with Terzic has unsurprisingly been strained.

The offensive player recently expressed concerns about the end of his career. When asked “What are you afraid of?” The ex-BVB captain replied on the YouTube show “Unspoken”: “This moment of falling into a deep hole after my career. Emotional, but also not knowing 100 percent: What will happen next? I am the most impatient person in the world . I always have to be on my toes.”

Reus added: “I’m used to having a structured plan: When is training? When do I have to be there? What’s my routine? At some point that won’t exist anymore.”
