After four and a half years and two loans, substitute goalkeeper Zack Steffen is finally leaving Manchester City. The 28-year-old, who also stood between the posts for Fortuna Düsseldorf, is returning to his hometown in the USA and joining the Colorado Rapids. He signed a contract with the Major League Soccer club until 2026 with the option of a further year.
Steffen moved from Columbus Crew to Man City in 2019 for 6.82 million euros, but was immediately loaned out to Düsseldorf, where he guarded the goal 18 times. He appeared on the pitch a total of 21 times for the “Citizens”. Since the 2022/23 season he has only been number three after the arrival of Stefan Ortega.
