BVB professional Giovanni Reyna is moving to England

Giovanni Reyna and Borussia Dortmund part ways. The 21-year-old is going to a traditional club in England.

After four years, Giovanni Reyna and Borussia Dortmund are parting ways for the time being. It was recently reported that the 21-year-old would be moving to Nottingham Forest. The transfer has now been finalized. The Premier League club confirmed the American’s signing on Wednesday evening.

“Gio is a red,” the club wrote on X (formerly Twitter). Accordingly, the club is loaning Reyna until the end of the season. He will wear the shirt number 20.

BVB has probably extended Reyna’s contract

At the same time, Borussia Dortmund explained that the deal did not contain a purchase option; instead, Reyna had even extended his contract with the black and yellow team by one year until 2026. “Gio has approached us in the last few days with the wish to play for Nottingham Forest until the end of the season,” BVB sporting director Sebastian Kehl is quoted in the statement. “We have complied with this and now wish Gio maximum sporting success for half the year in England.”

Reyna came to Dortmund’s U19 from the NFCFC Academy in 2019 and made it to the professionals in January 2020. So far, the young player has made 121 appearances for BVB.
