BVB: Otto Addo takes over Ghana national team for World Cup playoffs

Talent managers in Dortmund

The Ghana Football Association announced the departure of coach Milovan Rajevac after a disappointing exit in the group stage of the Africa Cup of Nations, losing to Comoros on the last day of the game. Since the important games in the playoffs of the World Cup qualification against Nigeria (24.3 and 29.3) are already due at the end of March, a replacement had to be found quickly. This was found at Borussia Dortmund.

Otto Addo, who has worked as a talent manager at BVB since 2019 and acted as assistant coach under Edin Terzic last season, will take over the “Black Stars” on an interim basis. “The Ghanaian association has approached us with a request to release Otto Addo for the two games of this international period. Being the national coach of your home country is always something special and a great honour,” confirmed Sebastian Kehl “Image”. “Of course we have complied with this request. Otto’s work at BVB does not affect his commitment during the international match period in any way.”

Between 1999 and 2006, the 46-year-old Addo himself played 15 times for his country, including in two group games at the World Cup premiere in 2006. After two more appearances in 2010 and 2014, it is said that after the missed qualifications in 2018 this year work again.
