BVB: Niclas Füllkrug remains realistic when making comparisons with Erling Haaland

Niclas Füllkrug has collected 19 direct goal involvements in his first 22 Bundesliga games for Borussia Dortmund since his summer move from Werder Bremen. Since 2004, only Erling Haaland has done better with 27 scorers. The 31-year-old believes the recent comparisons with the current Man City striker are exaggerated, despite his impressive personal record to date.

“Of course you always have to look at things realistically. Erling Haaland scored significantly more goals at that point and was also better than me when it came to scoring. It’s clear that you don’t necessarily have to compare things now,” explained Füllkrug on “Sky”, who has eleven goals and eight assists to his name so far. Nevertheless, he is satisfied with his strong performance for the black and yellow: “I have almost one scorer per game, which I have done from the start. That’s a value that I imagined to some extent.” For the “opportunities we have, for the season we’re playing and for the points and goals we have,” that’s “alright.” .

On Saturday, the striker will meet his former club Bremen with BVB – the anticipation is great. “Werder is of course a very special club for me. It will probably also be a bit emotional for a moment. But I’m actually always pretty relaxed when it comes to things like that. That’s why I just think it can be a nice day,” said Füllkrug, whose transfer in the summer brought 15.5 million euros into the Green-Whites’ coffers – the Hanseatic team have never received more for an over-30 professional in their history.
