Jamie Gitten’s transfer to Chelsea FC is now also officially. After Borussia Dortmund had already confirmed an agreement between the clubs on Thursday and sports director Sebastian Kehl, the blues made the deal perfect on Saturday. The offensive player signed a contract in London until 2032.

The transfer fee for the 20-year-old is said to be £ 55.5 million-the equivalent of 64.3 million euros-and thus roughly at the level of Christian Pulisic (2018 in Chelsea) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (2019 to Arsenal; to the most expensive BVB exits). English media reported on Saturday of a somewhat lower sum, BVB sports director Lars Ricken had again emphasized in an interview with the “Ruhr Nachrichten” on Saturday that the Champions League winner of 2021 had met the demands of the black and yellow.

“It feels great,” Gitten is quoted in the club announcement. “It is a great feeling to come to such a big club as Chelsea. I can’t wait to learn from everyone in the team and do my best here. It’s an incredible feeling.”

Gittens moved from the youth of Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund in 2020 and debuted for the professionals in April 2022 at the age of 17. Last season he was one of the best BVB scorers with eight goals and four templates in 32 Bundesliga games, but slipped into the second member in the second half of the season under coach Niko Kovac. In 2012, the native of London played Gitten in the Chelsea youth for half a year before going to Reading.
