Working with Nico Schlotterbeck’s comeback: Borussia Dortmund has given his long painfully missing defense chief a successful return and jumped up to the first pursuer of FC Bayern.

The BVB defeated VfL Wolfsburg 1-0 (1-0) on Sunday evening, Schlotterbeck completed its first competitive game after 175 days for the Dortmund – and was surprisingly promptly in the starting eleven.

On the defensive, the international was hardly challenged against the harmless Wolfsburg, so the 25-year-old was able to bring in his qualities in the game structure again and again. He was also involved in the creation of Karim Adeyemi’s gate (20th).

In the table, Dortmund is now in second place behind the flawless record champion Bayern Munich. After the wild and extremely annoying 4: 4 during the week in the Champions League near Juventus Turin, BVB gave the right answer in the league.

The first loud cheers had already existed before the kick -off when stadium spokesman Norbert Dickel read the line -up – and actually fell the name Schlotterbeck. The central defender had had to pause for a long time because of a meniscus injury, but with his comeback he didn’t need a start -up time and indicated directly what he could offer to the team.

Because the Wolfsburgers mostly withdraw, Schlotterbeck took over the role of the ball distributor from the defensive, his side changes repeatedly caused the overnight. The 1-0 resulted from such an action, but VfL also helped vigorously: Joakim Maehle fit the ball into the feet of Marcel Sabitzer, who directly forwarded to Julian Rerson. Its filing converted ADEYEMI from almost 20 meters worth seeing.

BVB: Beier leaves it 2-0

A little later, Maximilian Beier (34th) had to score 2-0 by head, but gave a flank to Ryserson’s flank. Dortmund made too little out of his superiority in the first round and did not consistently put the error -prone Wolfsburg pressure under pressure.

Even after the break, hardly anything changed in the course of the game. BVB had control, but hardly earned any possibilities. Wolfsburg, in turn, almost never had the ball in the opposing half, but at least defended carefully – and after a free kick from nowhere had the huge chance of compensation: a volley shot from Mohamed Amoura (58.) flew to the lower edge of the latte.

This aroused the teams a little out of their lethargy: the Wolfsburgers, in which the Danish Christian Eriksen celebrated his Bundesliga debut (60th), noticed that a tie could be possible. Dortmund, on the other hand, wanted to add the second goal to have more peace.
