A new ‘homeless neighborhood’ should be built on the Bussumse Sruikheiweg. Hilversum has a similar neighborhood and it is a success. People live there who were previously homeless or could not settle in other places due to their complex problems.
The plan was to place these container homes at a location on the Sruikheiweg, but residents of the adjacent residential area did not like that. They had concerns about nuisance, among other things. Last summer, more than a hundred local residents signed a petition against the arrival of the homes.
Different location
At a residents’ evening, the suggestion was made to build the ‘homeless neighborhood’ a little further away, on a plot on the corner of Bussumergrondweg and Sruikheiweg. The neighborhood would cause less nuisance there.
The municipality of Gooise Meren has investigated the new location and for the time being all signals appear to be green.
In the near future, further investigation will be conducted into whether placing the residential units in this location is indeed feasible. If this turns out to be the case, a permit will be applied for. If that doesn’t work, the municipality will still stay at the original location.
