Burglary in a former private bank on the Kudamm. Lockers were broken open, valuables are gone.

A security company rents lockers on the corner of Fasanenstrasse and Kurfürstendamm (280 to 595 euros per year). Promises on the website “no risk of burglary or robbery” and “24-hour alarm and video surveillance”.

But the customers’ valuables were probably not that safe – on Saturday evening unknown persons broke into the basement. A security company alerted the police at around 7:40 p.m.

“Several lockers have been broken into and emptied,” said a police spokeswoman. The police did not disclose how many were cracked.

Gold and precious stones are said to have been mainly stored in the vaults. A tenant in the building claims: “What is stored here surpasses the Green Vault in Dresden by a multiple.”
