The British fashion group Burberry Group plc has appointed a proven expert for the Asian markets to the board of directors. On Wednesday, the company announced that Stella King will join the board as a non-executive director on April 1 next year and will also be a member of the nomination committee.

King has held various management positions in the Asian business of clothing retailer Moncler over the past 13 years. She first worked there as President, Asia Pacific since 2011, and in January 2022 she was appointed Chief Chinese Business Officer. Burberry said King will resign from this post at the end of the year. Prior to her time at Moncler, her experience in the region included serving as President, Asia Pacific, at Sergio Rossi and in various leadership roles in mainland China at Lane Crawford.

Burberry Chairman Gerry Murphy explained the appointment: “Stella has an impressive and deep understanding of the luxury market and consumers in the Asia Pacific region,” he said in a statement. “Her insights and expertise will be of great value to Burberry and we are pleased that she has accepted our invitation to join Burberry’s Board of Directors.”

Fabiola Arredondo and Antoine de Saint-Affrique, however, will resign their mandates as non-executive directors and leave the board of directors of Burberry after the next annual general meeting, which is scheduled to take place in July 2025, the group announced.
