Led by Bilal El Khannouss, VfB Stuttgart won the third home win in this Bundesliga season. In a long game, the DFB Cup winner ranks the relegation candidate 1. FC Heidenheim 1-0 (0-0) and pushed himself up to four.

Thanks to the hit by the new game designer El Khannouss in the 65th minute, the hoped -for reparation after the 0: 2 from Thursday at FC Basel in the Europa League. The VfB of coach Sebastian Hoeneß also remained in front of his own audience without conceding a goal.

Three zero successes at the start in the home stadium had recently succeeded in the club 34 years ago in the 1991/92 master season. There are even four games across the season. Heidenheim made it difficult for VfB in the Swabian duel for a long time, but missed the first away points a week after the first win of the season against FC Augsburg (2-1).

In a rainy afternoon, the European Cup participant clearly determined the action, but made too little out of his possession. The guests from the Ostalb narrowed the rooms, the home team found no recipe for a long time. So the 60,000 spectators were not spoiled.

Maue first half in Stuttgart with little dangerous penalty area scenes

After just a few minutes, right -back Lorenz Assignon overcame Heidenheim’s defensive series with a throw -in, but Badredine Bouanani fell over from an acute angle just left over to the left (6th). Jamie Leweling’s shot also rolled next to the goal (23rd). When I tried Jeff Chabot after half an hour, goalkeeper Diant Ramaj was on hand.

Heidenheim’s focus was on the defensive. The eleven of coach Frank Schmidt came even less frequently than the hosts. Stuttgart’s national goalkeeper Alexander Nübel only had to intervene against Mikkel Kaufmann (20th). Another shot of Kaufmann shortly before half -time flew over the goal.

In any case, weakened by several failures, the Heidenheimers also had to do without offensive power Sirlord Conteh. The wing player, who, like a merchant, shone against the FCA as a scorer and template provider suffered a knee injury during training.

Spacer shot leads VfB Stuttgart to success

Little changed in the second half. Heidenheim pulled back far, VfB first searched for solutions. Ten minutes after the change of sides, Bouanani still had one way, then the wing player had to go down. Hoeneß reacted with a change of triple to the mew appearance of his eleven, brought the toned Angelo Stiller and for the defense of Ameen al-Dakhil for the offensive Tiago Tomás.

Chabot’s shot from the distance was just over (60th). El Khannouss made it better shortly afterwards. In the meantime, it poured out when the midfielder circulated the ball into the goal from around 18 meters-and the VfB supporters and coach Hoeneß were allowed to cheer. A goal by Stuttgart’s attacker Ermedin Demirovic in injury time did not count because of a foul.
