A week before the Bundesliga start, 17 of the 18 teams announced their captain for the 2025/26 season. On Sunday, Eintracht Frankfurt reported the decision as to who should follow Kevin Trapp. The goalkeeper, who is about to switch to Paris FC, is inherited by Robin Koch. “Being a captain of Eintracht Frankfurt is an honor. I want to fill out this position with everything I have and lead our team to further success,” Koch was quoted against FV Engers on Sunday before the SGE cup game in Koblenz.
The national players Tim Kleindienst and Robert Andrich have risen in the hierarchy at Borussia Mönchengladbach and Bayer Leverkusen and are now wearing the bandage. Ole Werner and Lukas Kwasniok have also appointed a new captain at RB Leipzig or the 1. FC Köln. On Friday, the HSV announced that newcomer Yussuf Poulsen took over the office.
Andrich takes over the post of Lukas Hradecky, who left the Werkelf towards Monaco. “It is a huge honor for me. While most Bundesliga clubs have confirmed their captains in office, the official proclamation of a club is still pending. Mainz 05 has not yet made a decision. Manuel Neuer, who has been captain of FC Bayern since 2017, is the longest in office.
