Brothers remain stuck in Tim van der Steen case | NOW

The two brothers, who are suspected of murdering fifteen-year-old Middelburger Tim van der Steen, will certainly remain in custody until the substantive handling of the lawsuit. That was decided by the court on Thursday.

The brothers (15 and 17) have been detained since January 12, the day fifteen-year-old Tim died from the consequences of a stabbing. In a Rotterdam hospital, the teenager fought for his life for three days after he was found seriously injured at the Meanderflat in the Dauwendaele district. He appeared to have been stabbed in several places.

The brothers and Tim were acquaintances. The Public Prosecution Service suspects the two of premeditated murder. The lawsuit will be dealt with in substance behind closed doors on 10 and 11 October. The Public Prosecution Service will then formulate a sentence. The court is expected to rule on November 15.

Family and friends regularly lay flowers at the spot where Tim was stabbed. A monument is planned to be laid down in a few months.
