The dancer and “rapper” Kevin Federline was once the husband of the pop icon Britney Spears, who will be 44 years old at the beginning of December. The then young couple’s marriage officially lasted three years – from 2004 to 2007.
In his forthcoming memoir “You Thought You Knew,” Federline makes serious allegations in connection with the joint custody battle over their two sons Sean Preston (20) and Jayden James (19).
As the New York Times previously reported, Federline, who now works at a university in Hawaii, claims that Spears repeatedly stood in the doorway of her bedroom at night with a knife in her hand – silently, apparently walking in her sleep.
Kevin Federline makes serious allegations against Britney Spears
“The kids and I would sometimes wake up and see her standing there – ‘Oh, you’re awake?’ – with a knife in her hand,” Federline quotes herself. “Then she turned around and walked away without a word.”
The singer has not yet commented publicly on the allegations. Her relationship with her sons was considered strained for years – even in public.
In 2022, in an interview with the British newspaper Daily Mail, Jayden spoke about the difficult relationship with his mother, which he believes is “repairable” – if she recovers mentally. “I want to see her again,” he said at the time.
Spears repeatedly ignored his brother Sean’s request not to post photos of him on social media.
Strained relationship with sons
In his book, Federline not only describes personal experiences, but also expresses general concern about Spears’ current condition. He writes that he has the feeling that “the clock is ticking” and warns of an “irreversible development” if nothing changes.
He expresses clear criticism of the former “Free Britney” movement: In his opinion, the release from the 13-year guardianship did more harm than good.
“Now, more than ever, they and our children need your support,” one passage reads.
Public perception of Spears has been characterized by ambivalence since the end of her guardianship. On the one hand, she is considered a symbol of female self-determination in pop, but on the other hand, her often erratic social media posts regularly cause irritation – most recently through videos in which she dances naked.
The book “You Thought You Knew” will be released in the US on October 21st. A German edition is currently not planned.
