Brian Brobbey helps Ajax to a problem-free victory against RKC

Ajax easily dealt with RKC Waalwijk (4-1) at home. The victory can mainly be attributed to Brian Brobbey. The striker scored two goals for the Amsterdam team.

New signing Jordan Henderson was still missing at Ajax. He could not play yet because his work permit is not yet ready.

Without Henderson, the Amsterdam team started stronger than RKC. First, Steven Berghuis aimed just wide, after which Brian Brobbey made it 1-0. Brobbey was able to easily tap in after a header from Steven Bergwijn.

But the good feeling was quickly thrown back in the trash. Michiel Kramer scored his seventh goal against Ajax. Ajax quickly fought back to the lead, thanks to a second goal from Brobbey. Just before half-time, he knocked an assist from Kenneth Taylor against the ropes: 2-1.

The match fizzled out for a while in the second half. That changed when Kristian Hlynsson scored the 3-1. He scored from the edge of the penalty area. The goal gave Ajax a new impetus, as four minutes later Bergwijn scored a penalty. Brobbey could have crowned his match with a hat trick, but failed to do so.

In the final phase it became 4-1 for the Amsterdam team. Substitute Carlos Borges passed the ball to Berghuis and he scored a devastating hit. The victory makes Ajax the winner of the weekend. The difference with FC Twente (six points) and AZ (three points) continues to shrink. Heracles is the next opponent in Almelo next Saturday.
