The “Werkelf” clearly leads to Werder Bremen – but then suddenly all the dams break. In contrast, Eintracht is in top form in Hoffenheim.

Bayer Leverkusen had certainly imagined it very differently: The Werkself played only 3: 3 (2: 1) at Werder Bremen on the 2nd Bundesliga match day. After the 1-2 defeat at the start of the season against TSG Hoffenheim, the German champions from 2024 could not convince in the second game.

Patrik Schick (5th, 66./Foulelfmeter) and Malik Tillman (35th) scored for the team of new coach Erik Ten Hag, the home side came through hits from Romano Schmid (44./Foulelfmeter) and Isaac Schmidt (76.) but again under pressure. Abdoul Coulibaly then shocked the Werkself in added time (90.+5).

In contrast, Eintracht Frankfurt had no problems in the 3-1 (2-0) victory at TSG Hoffenheim: Ritsu Doan (17th, 27th) and Can Uzun (51st) met for temporarily playing Hesse, Grischa Prömel (90.+1) only scored the TSG Hehr goal. RB Leipzig, on the other hand, presented itself after the 0: 6 at the start of the season at FC Bayern: The Saxons won 2-0 (0-0) against 1. FC Heidenheim at home. Christoph Baumgartner (48th) and Romulo (78th) shot out the victory.

Before the game, captain Marco Friedl had also lined up in the already long injury list. For him, the 18-year-old Coulibaly moved into the team-he initially experienced a very bitter Bundesliga start-up debut, but saved Werder late. Nathan Tella caught a sloppy Pass Coulibalys, turned the Werder defense over and served Schickly for early lead. Leverkusen’s 35 million-euro newcomer Tillman crowned his debut before the break with his ripped-out conclusion after a nice attack over the left.

Shortly afterwards, Schmid’s goal from the point after a foul by Axel Tape in the penalty area brought hope back to the Weser Stadium. Coulibaly’s next mistake in Werder structure remained undisputed because Christian Kofane only chipped the ball on the latte (45.+1). In the stoppage time of the first half, Werder left two more good chances through grill on the opposite side.

After the change of sides, the lawn was more controlled again before Leverkusen expanded the lead. Defender Tapsoba performed a kick -off, exactly into Christian Kofane’s course. It was only to be stopped by a foul in the penalty area – from replacement captain, who collected the second yellow card. Schick could not be asked from the point. A quarter of an hour before the end, an unnecessary mistake from Bayer keeper Mark Flekken brought the tension back again. After that, the Leverkuseners got swimming.
