Brazilian singer Elsa Suarez has died at the age of 91. says on her Instagram account.
“An icon of Brazilian music, considered one of the world’s greatest artists, the singer chosen by the Voice of the Millennium has lived an apotheotic, rich life and shook the world with her voice, strength and determination. The beloved and eternal Elsa rested in peace, ”said family members and the artist’s team.
Suarez died at 15:45 (21:45 Moscow time) on January 20 at her home in Rio de Janeiro due to natural causes.
During her musical career, which she began in the 1950s, Suarez released 34 albums. The last one was released in 2019 under the title “Planeta Fome” (“Hungry Planet”). Suarez sang in the genre of jazz, hip-hop and others, samba motifs sounded in her songs. The BBC called her “the voice of the millennium”.
