Braunschweig missed out on a medal at the European Short Course Championships

Ole Braunschweig missed the third medal for the German swimmers at the European Short Course Championships in Romania.

The Berliner had to settle for sixth place in the final of the 100 m backstroke in 50.40 seconds. On Wednesday, the 26-year-old won silver over half the distance.

The only gold medal so far for the small team of the German Swimming Association (DEB) was somewhat surprisingly won by Angelina Köhler, fifth in the World Championships, in the 200 m butterfly on Thursday. The 23-year-old from Berlin is still competing on her main routes of 50 and 100 m.

On the way to the World Cup in Doha (February 2nd to 18th) and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, the Magdeburg training group around Olympic champion Florian Wellbrock, among others, decided not to start in the Bucharest suburb of Otopeni.
