Bram Moszkowicz exploded last night in the Shownieuws studio when AvroTros director Taco Zimmerman came into view. “I heard you shout something at the screen,” his colleague reveals.

AvroTros boss Taco Zimmerman has made the decision: he will keep the Netherlands away from the Eurovision Song Contest next year, because he is against Israel’s participation. “The ceasefire is still very fragile. Journalists are still not allowed in, food is sparse and we want to stick to our own values.”

Do not repeat

While Taco says those words in an item from Show newsBram Moszkowicz – out of sight of the viewer – goes all out on this broadcaster, presenter Dyantha Brooks reveals after the item. “While we were listening to Taco Zimmerman here, I heard you, Bram, shouting something at the screen.”

So Bram has been cursing that man, but he doesn’t want to say it again. “Yes, but I’m not going to repeat that, because I don’t want the viewers to ehhh, but I didn’t agree with it.”

‘It’s nonsense!’

It bothers Bram, who is of Jewish descent, how Taco speaks out about Israel. “That the man would presume to now say that food is coming in piecemeal… That’s just nonsense! Even though he doesn’t talk about it.”

“I can also imagine that when there was that misery between Hamas and Israel, you would issue a statement, but there must also be room for nuance and I don’t know that with that man. There is now a ceasefire and it is being maintained. You could say: with changed circumstances we can also change our position.”

Three tons

Bram finds it incomprehensible that one man is able to deprive an entire country of the Eurovision Song Contest. “Who exactly is this Mr. Zimmerman, who earns I believe two hundred or three hundred thousand a year?”

“He now decides with our tax money that we are all not allowed to watch the Eurovision Song Contest. That is what it basically comes down to!”
