Heroes Den Bosch rarely conquered the Toto Basketball Cup on Sunday. Only in the extension of the final against Donar Groningen did the Bosschenaren definitively distance: 90-85.
The two teams made an unparalleled final battle in Sportcampus Zuiderpark in The Hague. Donar took the lead with 35-31 after the second quarter to well-filled stands. Den Bosch came back strongly, but had to watch how the American Tavian Dunn-Martin still gave the Groningers ahead of one point at the end of the third quarter.
In the last ten exciting minutes, Den Bosch seemed to attract the game, but it was again Dunn-Martin who kept the hope of Groningen success alive. It was vain hope. Although Dunn-Martin was still very close to the equalizer, Den Bosch won with a 5-point difference.
It was the second time in a row and the ninth time in total that the national cup went to Den Bosch. The heroes are still honored in -house this evening. The Bosschenaren eliminated Feyenoord last Friday in the semi-final (86-76).
Coach Erik Braal’s team is also the best Dutch formation in the BNXT League, where she takes the sixth palasts.
