It also remained exciting in the second set. At 22-24, Cox subtly tipped the ball over the block and so Maaseik equalized the position in sets: 1-1. But Menen did not give up. In the third set, the home team benefited from sloppiness at Maaseik. It held the lead and won the set 25-20.

Set four started difficult for Menen, but the West Flemish people recovered halfway. At 19-18, Gempin gave the home team the lead again. With 23-23 on the scoreboard, the Vleeschauwerer served an ACE, which allowed him to serve again.

What followed was a nerve -racking rally in which Maaseik got opportunities through Cox and Perin, but Menen defended strongly. Perin hit the ball outside, and after a challenge – which took a long time – Menen was awarded the decisive point.
