Eichner wants to play perspective card
Karlsruher SC continues to plan in two ways in the personel of Mönchengladbach’s captain Lars Stindl. “You have to see the issue in parallel with normal squad planning. He’s not a player that we would normally have access to,” explained KSC coach Christian Eichner before the second division team’s home game against Arminia Bielefeld on Sunday. It will be important to “put together a good package in terms of squad planning” in the near future, he added.

The KSC coach never tires of naming the Borussia captain, who will be leaving in the summer, as a desired part of his planning for the 2023/24 season. “But whoever has now concluded that Lars somehow says no on Wednesdays in Gladbach and yes on Thursdays to Karlsruhe – it’s not that simple,” emphasized Eichner.
Stindl’s bond with his training club and former teammate Eichner has limits – both perspectively and financially. Therefore, after the sacking of sports manager Oliver Kreuzer, the “Task Force Squad Planning” is looking for ways in which a future together could become realistic. “Not just monetary. I don’t think that’s Lars’ big issue,” said Eichner.

Instead, the former defender wants to try and play the perspective card. “Because something has developed here. I think we can say at a certain moment in talks like this that we as a club have taken a big step forward,” said the 40-year-old, who has been in office since 2020.
