The deal does not include a purchase option, but the clubs did not provide any information about this. According to reports, the second division team prevailed in its advertising against other well-known competition from the German lower house of football; it is not known exactly which clubs they were. Ranos still has a contract with Gladbach until 2027.

“Grant has a lot of talent and can be used variably on offense. This gives us additional flexibility. With his instinct for goal and his finishing qualities, he will not only heat up the existing competition in our squad, but will also give our squad more depth. This convinces us that he can advance our game in order to be successful together and also take the next important steps in his personal development,” said FCK managing director Thomas Hengen about the loan deal.

Ranos explained his decision to join FCK as follows: “I am really looking forward to my new challenge here in Kaiserslautern, where I want to advance my sporting development with regular playing time. Above all, I am extremely motivated to help the club achieve its goals. 1. FC Kaiserslautern is an absolutely traditional club in Germany, so it is something special to wear this jersey. The discussions with the club quickly showed me that it was exactly the right thing for this point in my career. Big thanks also go to Roland Virkus and Borussia for supporting me on this path.”

Ranos moved from FC Bayern’s second team to Gladbach on a free transfer in 2023. In his first season, the attacker played ten games (one goal and one assist), so far this season there have been two short appearances lasting just 18 minutes with no involvement in a goal. In the Foals’ attack, Tim Kleindienst, Alassane Pléa and Tomas Cvancara are clearly ahead.

In Kaiserslautern, Daniel Hanslik has so far played the most minutes in the central attack ahead of Ragnar Ache and Jannik Mause. With nine goals, Ache is also the team’s top goalscorer.
