Borussia Dortmund – Kehl backtracks: “Totally unfortunate wording”

Munich (AP) – Borussia Dortmund’s future sports director Sebastian Kehl put his vague statements about coach Marco Rose into perspective on Saturday.

“I can clearly say that it was worded very unhappily,” said BVB’s current license player boss in Sport1’s “double pass”: “I can clearly say that I’m planning the coming season with Marco.”

When asked, Kehl, who will replace Michael Zorc as Dortmund’s sports director in the summer, assured that he saw this as a clear commitment to Rose, even if he again pointed out that he would “still have a few things to do with the current BVB coach after the season have to discuss”.

On Saturday, Kehl caused a stir with statements after BVB’s 3-1 win at SpVgg Greuther Fürth. When asked whether Rose would still be a coach in Dortmund next season, Kehl said on Sky that he assumed it would be “as of today”. Rose herself later said: “What should I tell you about that? You’re trying to conjure up something out of something.”
