The outdoor outfitter Patagonia has expanded its presence in Austria. On Monday, the company announced the opening of its second store in the country.

Patagonia chose Bergstrasse 22 in downtown Salzburg as the location. According to its own information, the brand now offers “a wide range of functional clothing and equipment for outdoor sports such as climbing, winter sports and trail running”. With the new opening, the US company now has 14 stores in Europe.

Following the brand’s concept, the store in Salzburg should also “serve as both a sales area and a meeting place for regional environmental protection groups and the outdoor community,” said Patagonia.

Nina Hajikhanian, managing director of EMEA at Patagonia, explained the approach. “We carefully design every detail of a new store so that it reflects our company’s heritage and values,” she said in a statement. “Because we only have a limited number of Patagonia stores in Europe, we select each new location based on whether it will also serve as a meeting point for regional environmental initiatives and the outdoor community.”
