Injury scare for Union before the Champions League clash! On Wednesday evening, the Iron Men have to start against record winners Real Madrid (6.45 p.m., DAZN).

But there the Köpenickers have to do without their defense boss Robin Knoche (31)! Union coach Urs Fischer (57) announced this at the press conference in Madrid.

Fischer: “Bones is undergoing therapy. It looks like he will also be out on the weekend. I hope his downtime isn’t too long.”

Means: Leonardo Bonucci (36) is about to make his debut for Union – of all places in the legendary Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. What an iron premiere!

Fischer: “There is a possibility that he will play.” With his experience from 84 Champions League games, the Italy star is the logical replacement. However, the 2021 European champion has not yet played for Union. In the league he recently sat on the bench for 90 minutes twice.

At the beginning of September, those responsible for the Union landed the transfer coup and signed the 2021 European champions for a free transfer. Because the national player was not allowed to take part in team preparation with former club Juve, he has not yet had a chance at Union.

Coach Fischer recently stated that he would talk to Bonucci about a possible assignment – now it could be that time before the cracker in the premier class!
