In a car in Hoogeloon, the police found explosive material on Tuesday afternoon. It is probably pipe bombs. Agents met the car when they were on their way to a fire alarm. Around half past two it was reported that a fire had broken out in a forest on the Vessemseweg in Hoogeloon. A man who was at the car was arrested.
So there would be ‘multiple pipe bombs’ in the car. These are iron or metal tubes that are closed on both sides. The sleeve contains an explosive such as gunpowder, which can be ignited by a small opening.
According to a police spokesperson, it is too early to go into the question of what kind of explosive material it actually is. He said that a team of Explosives Exploration (TEV) of the police has been called in. Subsequently, the Explosives Clearance Service Defense (EOD) was also alerted. It had not arrived by a quarter past three.
The police had come to the fire alarm because she might have been needed to turn off roads. Now that had to happen after the ‘explosive’ find. The agents then called their colleagues from TEV because they thought it was suspicious what was in the car.
It is not known where the man comes from who was arrested and what his involvement in the explosive material is.
