The German Bobsleigh and Sled Association has announced that bobsleigh pusher Simon Wulff was found to have an abnormal sample.

The competition test revealed a substance that was permitted in training but prohibited in competition, the association said. Wulff has not yet been suspended by the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation.

The German association, however, says Wulff is against it “exempted from sports activities until the matter has been fully clarified.” In this case, results management is not the responsibility of the German anti-doping agency NADA, but of the international agency ITA.

It was not clear from the statement whether Wulff requested the analysis of a B sample. So far there has been no statement from him; the presumption of innocence applies until a decision is made.

Regularly with Friedrich in the bobsleigh

The 24-year-old Wulff was still in action with Francesco Friedrich at the weekend. In Winterberg they came second in the four-man bobsleigh. Wulff has also been featured frequently in the two-man bobsleigh recently. He should also compete in the two-man bobsleigh at the upcoming World Cup in St. Moritz.

Wulff only switched to Francesco Friedrich’s bobsleigh team at the beginning of the season. He was previously active as a track and field athlete and achieved the fourth fastest German time over 100 meters with 10.06 seconds. With a view to the 2026 Olympics in Cortina D’Ampezzo and Milan, Wulff then switched to the bobsleigh camp.
