For Martin Schindler, Jonny Clayton has nothing to get in the match against the world ranking of Jonny Clayton. But the focus is on the German through a curiosity.
As if from Germany’s Darts star Martin Schindler, the match against Jonny Clayton was not already unhappy enough: the 28-year-old lost in the round of 16 of the UK Open Darts on Saturday with 4:10 against the Welsh and thus missed the last eight of the tournament in the southwest of England.
But that’s not all: Schindler was also the focus of a bizarre fast accident. What happened? In the 13th leg of the duel, the best German darts player set up on the litter line as usual, took measurements and threw his arrow on the window. However, the arrow crashed there, flew back directly in the opposite direction on “The Wall” – and bored directly in Schindler’s right shoe.
But instead of great terror, Schindler was lucky in misfortune: the shoe held. Schindler pulled out the metal tip and reacted with humor: the Brandenburg turned to the audience, also gestured towards the referee, but please stay calm and not to worry. Clayton also reacted with a grin.
However, the curious scene did not help Schindler to win the match against Clayton in the traditional Butlin’s Minhead Resort. The latter decided the duel after a short strength phase of the German with a strong 101 checkout for the meantime 8: 4.
