Billie Eilish and Finneas with “favorite song” on “Tiny Desk” (video)

Billie Eilish and her brother played four pieces – but no one expected one of them.

Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas gave a concert at Tiny Desk. An emotional song from Eilish’s debut album WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO? was particularly surprising.

A memory of being in love for the first time

On Thursday (December 12, 2024) the new episode of the popular concert format was released from the editorial offices of the US radio station NPR. Eilish’s first concert in this series – at least live on site. In 2020, she had already recorded a “home” session for the station during the COVID-19 pandemic. The singer told the small audience in Washington that this moment was particularly “nerve-wracking” for her. “That’s so cool. I’ve wanted to do this my whole life, so I’m a little shaky,” she admitted.

The 22-year-old played a total of four acoustic versions with her brother and her band. In addition to the tracks “The Greatest”, “L’Amour de Ma Vie” and “Birds Of A Feather”, which come from her current album HIT ME HARD AND SOFT, the musician also chose a song from the beginning of her global career : “I Love You” from their 2019 debut.

“This is one of our favorite songs we’ve ever written,” the pop star said. “It was the first time I fell in love and it was very scary,” she recalled. “It’s funny how that fear never goes away, the fear of falling.”

First tour without Finneas

In a recent conversation with CBS News, Billie Eilish said she was touring without her family for the first time – a change that was difficult for her. “I have never given a concert without my brother. “I’ve almost never sung or been on stage without him,” she said. She and Finneas have been making music together since they were young. He wrote and produced most of their songs to this day.

Although her parents come to visit occasionally, she misses the familiar structure that had previously accompanied her on tour. “Everything is different,” says Eilish. “We talked about this happening two years ago,” Eilish explained. “It was one of those things that was known in our family. But two weeks before I left, we both got a little sad and emotional.”

This year’s Grammy candidate will be coming to Europe in the spring. Four concerts from their “Hit Me Hard And Soft” tour have been announced in Germany from May 2025.
