He was a “very beloved friend”
In a phone call with the CBS correspondent Jericka Duncan, Bill Cosby talks about his late acting colleague. “He was never afraid of withdrawing and learning to his room,” says Cosby. “He knew his text and felt comfortable – even with the growing challenges of being a teenager.”
The last time Cosby talked to him three months ago. “What we discussed at the time was something that he was very proud of. He had given a concert in Minnesota with a symphony orchestra, and there was a piece he had written himself.”
What is meant here is Warner’s “Art in Motion” concert with the Minnesota Orchestra to the Juneteenth (a commemoration day on June 19 in the USA). “He was very proud of what he had done and said,” says Cosby. He also spoke to Phylicia Rashad-Cosby’s series wife on the show-about the loss. “We donated consolation to each other on the phone because of a very loved friend.”
Bill Cosby: Career and controversy
Malcolm-Jamal Warner embodied the son of Heathcliff Huxtable in the sitcom “The Cosby Show” as Theodore Huxtable. The series is about a wealthy African-American family and celebrated great success at the US broadcaster NBC.
However, it was no longer broadcast on several channels after allegations of sexual abuse became known against Bill Cosby. The 88-year-old was guilty of sexual abuse in 2018 and sentenced to a prison sentence. In 2021, however, a court picked up the judgment and Cosby was released. In 2022 he was convicted again, but this time only for a compensation payment, since the crime was already time -barred at that time.
