The French expression “Déjà Vu” refers to the feeling of reviving something that has already been experienced in the past. It means “seen”: when a current situation is strangely familiar, although there is no evidence of having lived it previously. This phenomenon is related to neurological, psychological and even cognitive processes. And, in some cases, it can be associated with medical conditions such as the epilepsy of the temporal lobe. But, in the case of Argentina and its cyclical curses, it seems rather a political phenomenon.
Again and again, tirelessly, we stumble again with the same stones. We do not remember. We do not learn.
Let’s see if not what the news of these hot months say.
Restless dollar.
Multimillionaire rescue of the IMF.
Exchange runs.
Financial bicycle (or “carry trace”, more modern).
“Toto” Caputo.
Magician without teeth.
It is clear that ghosts stalk. From an Economy Minister who looks in the mirror of his failed intervention during the time of Mauricio Macri to Marcelo Tinelli’s comic character that was one of the faces of the defeat in the Cambiemos bunker in 2019 and today again lodges another president, who does not receive it very much. The Magician went to the Casa Rosada and then to the fifth of Olivos to try to meet with Milei and the bizarre scene was made in networks and media, as a metaphor of the past that struggles to return.
But the “Déjà Vu” goes one step further when the president himself, in his speech after the sake of the Buenos Aires elections, releases the phrase immortalized by Macri in his years of power and runs: “The worst already happened.” Phrase that, as we all remember, was the prelude to hell that expelled the yellow of power and brought back to the K.
Doesn’t the movie sound to them?
