Biathlon superstar Quentin Fillon Maillet draws a line in the sand: Late on Monday afternoon, the Frenchman announced on social media that he was ending his collaboration with his outfitter Fischer.

The five-time Olympic champion explained his decision in detail in an Instagram post.

“Nine Olympic medals. Thousands of kilometers on the trails. Hundreds of shots and many emotions experienced together. After all these years with Fischer, we are now going our separate ways. Some chapters close when they are completed – and this is it, in a wonderful and perfect way,” wrote Fillon Maillet.

The 33-year-old added: “These skis have carried me from the trails of my home in the Jura to the most demanding routes in the world. They were by my side when a few seconds or centimeters mattered. Thank you for everything you made possible for me.”

Biathlon star not tired at all even at 33

Last season, Fillon Maillet did a great job in terms of sport. Although the experienced ski hunter “only” ended up in eleventh place in the overall World Cup, he did win big at the Winter Games in Antholz, winning three gold medals.

Despite his age, the Frenchman is not yet thinking about ending his career; Fillon Maillet even wants to take part in the 2030 Olympics. “Does a law say that if you’re over 30 you’re too old for sport? That’s not how I see it. I love training, my sport, my life. I like winning even better. So why not continue?” he left no doubt about his motivation.

In 2026/2027, Fillon Maillet wants to go one step further, especially in the World Cup. “The first big challenge I have set for myself is to achieve excellent shooting statistics again. I want to get control of shooting again and make it a strength,” announced the biathlete.

Fillon Maillet will then tackle the next stage in his career with a new supplier. It is not known who will follow Fischer.
