Did Bushido never write his greatest hits himself? Mr. Rap names 12 names – and the statements of Ali Bumaye and Bass Sultan Hengzt heat up the debate.
Bushido and the ghostwriting allegations – allegations that run through his entire twenty-year rap career. Now Mr. Rap is addressing these allegations in a video for “Deutschrap ideal”. A number of well-known names from the German rap scene have opposed Bushido over the years and said: Apparently even his biggest hits weren’t written himself, and ghostwriters made fun of the fact that he simply rapped everything without checking it. But why is ghostwriting so frowned upon? And what’s actually behind the rumors?
It is quite common for artists to have other people write lyrics for their songs. If you look at the feature list of major artists today, you’ll notice that sometimes over seven songwriting credits are not uncommon. In songwriting camps, lyricists are specifically invited to write lyrics for specific stars. In rap, however, this is often viewed differently. The scene lives from the street, from the suffering experienced. A rapper in the classic sense writes himself about his tough origin story. Drugs, gun violence and zero-to-hero stories seem less credible if you haven’t experienced them yourself. This is where ghostwriting comes into play – i.e. writing texts without being named in the credits. This hides the fact that texts come from others. Bushido has faced exactly these accusations throughout his entire rap career.
Well-known names, serious allegations
Over the years, Mr. Rap has identified a total of twelve people who are said to have written texts for Bushido. These include well-known names such as Eko Fresh, Kay One, Mo Trip and Shindy. These allegations come partly from diss tracks and partly from various interviews. Eko Fresh rapped in “Para Para” 2026: “I wrote Bushido his gold songs.”
Kay One also referred to Eko’s involvement in the successful songs in the song “Judgment Day”: “Thank Eko for the tanning bed flavor” – a reference to Bushido’s song of the same name, which was released in 2006. Kay One himself is also said to have written a lot: “And it was no problem when you asked if I would write you a few tracks because you were fucked up” – Prince Kay One in “Nothing but the Truth” (2013).
Bushido’s reaction and the escalation
After Bushido had not commented on it for a long time, he now admitted in several interviews that Kay One had helped with the writing. In a “Backspin” interview, he described that at a certain point the air gets “thin,” and continued: “What should I rap about.”
Then in 2026: Ali Bumaye stated in a stream with Fler and Bass Sultan Hengzt that Shindy not only wrote the lyrics for Bushido, but also allegedly rapped them. Bass Sultan Hengzt also described that ghostwriters supposedly made fun of Bushido taking over the texts without questioning them. That would at least explain the line “Everything has an end, only the sausage has two, come along on tour” in “Kurt Cobain” by Bushido – or not.
In addition to Eko Fresh, Kay One, Mo Trip and Shindy, Section, Animus, Joker, Lars, Baba Saad, Greckoe, Aras, Sentino and Samra are also said to have written lyrics for Bushido. A list of twelve names – all rumored, albeit a strong one.
