Dorothea Wierer is one of the biggest biathlon stars of recent years. The four-time world champion has now spoken about her future on a TV show and caused a stir with a strange studio campaign.
Dorothea Wierer was a guest on the Italian late night show “Stasera c’è Cattelan” on Tuesday evening. In the program, the ski hunter was asked, among other things, about her future in biathlon.
“I’m 33 years old. Some biathletes stopped at 30, some at 35. I haven’t decided what to do next,” said Wierer on the “Rai” channel. The four-time world champion ended the current season early after repeatedly being slowed down by illnesses.
In 2026 the Olympics will take place in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. A reason to continue your career? “The Olympic Games on our own doorstep would of course be nice, but we’re still two years away. We’ll see, first I’ll take a vacation,” reacted Wierer. The Italian doesn’t want to make a hasty decision.

Instead, Wierer explained the basics of shooting to late-night host Alessandro Cattelan. Of course, the shooting was only done with a harmless laser rifle. A “naked” man held the targets in his hands. This was probably a reference to wrestling star John Cena’s appearance at the recent Oscars. The American presented the award for best costume design in Los Angeles – almost naked.
Wierer hit all the targets and TV host Cattelan also did a clever job, the audience was thrilled. Whether the biathlete will return to the World Cup stage and thus to the regular shooting range will probably only be decided in the spring.
