Bianca was in the final of Heel Holland Bakt last weekend, but is now shining again in her own kitchen in Emmen. She can finally take her time in the kitchen again and prepare for the holidays. Very different from during the baking program, when the second hand was ticking loudly.
“The stress during the final was really terrible,” says the Emmen resident, laughing. She is standing in front of her shiny kitchen island and has just tied on her Heel Holland Bakt apron. “I really couldn’t do anything anymore, I couldn’t count anymore. My head just stopped working. I’m happy that I can now bake again without that time pressure.”
Rolfes went a long way in the program with her colorful and especially pink creations. “You can see it,” she says, pointing around. “Pink is really my favorite color.” In the corner of the kitchen there is a bright pink Christmas tree with glittering cupcake baubles and a pink cuckoo clock ticking on the wall. “I thought I’d just add a little pink to the program and the baking.”
Her pink formula worked, as Rolfes was left among the final three bakers. “The final was really a dream, I never expected to get this far. That was very cool.” Although she looks back on her adventure with a proud feeling, Rolfes is happy that she can work on her Christmas recipes again in peace. Today she is working on Christmas tree meringues. “This always works and looks great during the Christmas holidays.”
She has another tip for novice bakers who would like to create their own ‘spectacle piece’ during the Christmas holidays: “Don’t suddenly go completely ‘out of the box’ at Christmas. Just start at the beginning. You can quickly create something spectacular.” She points to her Christmas trees. “An apple pie, for example, you can make it very beautiful by spraying something on it or make some nice meringues like this one. Then you quickly have something beautiful on the table.”
