The Colombian Egan Bernal published this Tuesday a video in which he is seen giving pedals on a stationary bicycle, after the serious accident that could cost him his life and that he suffered on January 24 while training for the Tour de France on a road in the vicinity of Bogota.

The Ineos Grenadiers runner appears without a collar, bandages, plaster casts or slingswithout a shirt and with some visible scars on his back and very focused on the pedals he gives on the machine, under the watchful eye of his two dogs.

“Never let anyone tell you that you can’t do something,” said the Colombian in the video posted on his Instagram account, in which he exercises again and where “Sometimes to smile you have to cry” is heard in the background, from the song “Before it’s over” by Bad Bunny.

The champion of the 2021 Giro d’Italia and the 2019 Tour de France was discharged from the Clínica Universidad de La Sabana on February 6, after undergoing several operations – some very delicate – and breaking ” almost 20 bones”, as he himself communicated.

The cyclist crashed on January 24 at high speed against a bus on the highway that goes from Bogotá to Tunja, at the height of the municipality of Gachancipá, when the vehicle had stopped. The accident caused fractures in the femur and knee, in vertebrae and several ribs and punctured lung.

The recovery of the Zipaquirá is surprising many peoplesince, after undergoing brain and spine surgeries, it was speculated that the 25-year-old cyclist would take a few weeks to take his first steps, which he achieved in just a few days.
