FC Bayern signs Ivory Coast captain

Planning for the second half of the season is in full swing for the Bayern women. Now the club has made a high-profile transfer.
FC Bayern Munich has signed defensive midfielder Bernadette Amani. The 28-year-old captain of the Ivory Coast national team is moving from Spanish first division club CD Tenerife Femenino to the German champions with immediate effect and has signed a contract until 2029.
Bianca Rech, director of women’s football at FC Bayern, praised the qualities of the new signing. “Bernadette is an extremely strong and compact player who impresses with her speed, stability and also her confident passing game. She brings great calm to the midfield and, as captain of the Ivory Coast, always puts the team first,” said Rech, according to the club’s statement.
The Ivorian has been gaining experience in European football since 2019. Since then she has been active in the Spanish league.
