Benzema injured, France risks losing its star

The Ballon d’Or has accused a physical problem and is undergoing further checks. Definitely out for the debut against Australia but there are fears of exclusion from the entire tournament

Blues tile. Karim Benzema’s return to training with the group didn’t last long. In the afternoon, the Frenchman left the field injured and will certainly miss the debut scheduled for Tuesday at 8pm against Australia. There is no peace for the new Ballon d’Or player, who returned today to coach Deschamps after days of separate work as he recovers from a muscle problem. Benzema is already undergoing specific checks to understand the extent of the injury but concern is growing in France. Benzema’s World Cup is seriously at risk.

IT RAINS IN THE WET

If the worst case scenario were confirmed, for Deschamps it would be yet another heavy absence, after those of Kante, Pogba, Kimpembe, Nkunku and Maignan. The French coach has until Monday, i.e. the day before his debut, to communicate the definitive list to Fifa. The AC Milan player Giroud is a candidate to lead the attack against Australia but in the French retreat they are already thinking about a possible replacement for Benzema. The possibility cannot be ruled out that Benzema will still remain in Qatar to recover from the injury and be available, at best, from the knockout stage onwards.
