AFC turns top match against Quick Boys and finally three points for OFC again

The top game against Quick Boys started with a deficit for AFC, but that was expertly turned around in the second half. Benno Nihom’s team eventually won 3-1. OFC took the full spoils for the first time since September 7. Excelsior Maasluis was defeated 3-1 and Jong FC Volendam lost – partly due to two missed penalties – to TEC, 1-2.

65′ Splinter de Mooij 1-1
76′ Melvin Platje 1-2
89′ Matthew Jesse 1-3

It took a while for the top match between leader AFC and competitor Quick Boys to get going. Quick Boys’s Ravelino Junte went down in the penalty area after 18 minutes and thought he should have been awarded a penalty. The referee waved his protest away. That turned out to be the start of a promising phase, because Junte was given an imposed chance not much later. AFC goalkeeper Gijs van Zetten turned his bet.

After this, the team from Amsterdam took over the initiative and successively Guus van Weerdenburg, Melvin Platje, Raily Ignacio and Cody Claver had chances to score the 1-0. In the end it was Danny van den Meiracker who scored the opening goal. Moments later, Van Zetten was a spoilsport for Van den Meiracker. The same was true for Tyrone Owusu. It was Splinter de Mooij, who put the equalizer for AFC on the board. Then it was won by goals from Platje and Matthijs Jesse to 3-1.

Because of the victory, AFC remains the leader in the first division with one point more than De Treffers. Next week fellow provincial OFC from Oostzaan will be the opponent.

For the first time in more than two months (!) OFC has won again in the second division. At the time, Koninklijke HFC was the victim. This time Excelsior Maasluis was defeated. The start was less, because the visitors took the lead after fifteen minutes. After this, both teams had chances for more goals in the remainder of the first half. In the end they didn’t.

OFC coach Pieter Mulders, who is leaving after this season, had Max Veerman and Ayoub Haddad come in at the start of the second half. That immediately paid off, as Veerman scored the equalizer: 1-1. The Oostzaners became stronger and stronger. Ayoub Haddad put his team ahead: 2-1. He decided the game by also making it 3-1.

OFC is last with eight points because of the victory. Competitor TEC surprisingly won against Jong FC Volendam, so that the difference remains four points. The Oostzaners will visit leader AFC next week.

Jong FC Volendam – TEC 1-2

34′ Bo van Essen 0-1
51′ Basil Camara ed 1-1
56′ Bo van Essen 1-2

Jong FC Volendam lost – partly due to two missed penalties – to TEC. In the initial phase, goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen kept his goal clean several times. Volendam could only counter this with a placed shot, which presented little danger. Bo van Essen provided the deserved lead for the visitors from Toel. Damage was kept to a minimum in the remainder of the first half.

The eel farmers came out of the dressing room with renewed energy, because in no time it was equal. Basil Camara outwitted his own goalkeeper from a corner by Joey Antonioli: 1-1. It was not equal for a long time, because Van Essen hurt the hosts again not much later with a goal: 1-2. In the final phase, Volendam got two penalties, but remarkably enough both were missed. TEC’s Adham El Idrissi shot wide just in time for an empty goal, so it remained 1-2.

Due to the defeat, TEC is creeping a little closer to Jong Volendam in the ranking. The team from Volendam are sixteenth with fourteen points, while the team from Tiel has twelve. Rijnsburgse Boys is the next opponent for Volendam.

Young Sparta Rotterdam – Royal HFC 1-0

83′ Rayvien Rosario 1-0

The people of Haarlem are in heavy weather. The last six games were not won and so a meeting with competitor Jong Sparta Rotterdam seemed the perfect opportunity to deal with that. Beforehand, the gap in the ranking was only one point, so there was a lot at stake for both teams.

On the grounds of Excelsior Maassluis, Koninklijke HFC started the match well. The first chances were for the team of trainer Gertjan Tamerus. After half an hour of play, however, the visitors got away well, as Jong Sparta hit the post. Koninklijke HFC was the parent throughout the match, but was always unable to deliver the decisive blow. Jong Sparta did that ten minutes before the end. Rayvien Rosario was the match winner for the Kralingers and shot the 1-0 against the ropes.

Royal HFC is unable to win for the seventh game in a row. As a result, the team from Haarlem can be found in twelfth place in the second division with sixteen points. Next Saturday (kick-off at 3.30 p.m.) the home game with Cossack Boys awaits, which is only one place higher.
