Bensabouh gives Telstar three points, so that play-offs remain possible

Telstar has achieved a narrow victory on a visit to FC Den Bosch. A goal from captain Anwar Bensabouh turned out to be enough for the full spoils: 0-1. As a result, the White Lions are still fully participating in the battle for the paly-offs.

Telstar defeated VVV-Venlo 1-0 at home last week and thus had a small chance of the play-offs. Tonight’s goal was therefore clear: to win. The team from Velsen started well, because the ball was in the net within fifteen minutes. Christos Giousis gave an assist to Anwar Bensabouh and shot flawlessly behind Wouter van der Steen: 0-1. The White Lions were especially able to expand the score. David Min in particular was the most dangerous. His greatest chance ended hard on the crossbar.

Remarkably enough, it was Den Bosch that came out stronger from the starting blocks. Tomas Kalinauskas headed over from close range and Gedion Zelalem also shot from far at Ronald Koeman Jr. The initiative was then taken over by Telstar. A dangerous bet by Min was misjudged and was turned just before the line by Van der Steen.

The substitute Glynor Plet had a huge chance just before time. He found Van der Steen on his way and Jay Kruiver, another substitute, then shot on the crossbar. Due to the victory, the difference with competitor FC Eindhoven remains four points. There are still three matches to be played, with Willem II being the opponent next week.

Telstar: Koeman; Boussakou (Kruiver/74), Apau, Aktas, Oude Kotte, Turfkruier; Najah, Overtoom, Bensabouh, Giousis (Plet/74), Min (Seedorf/82)
