In the semi-finals of the Portuguese League Cup, Benfica defeated Braga with a clear score of 3-0 and advanced to the final. Angel Di Maria became the star of the fight.
Benfica started the match quickly and took the lead with Angel Di Maria’s goal in the 27th minute. Just one minute later, Alvaro Fernandez made it 2-0. Di Maria, who appeared again towards the end of the first half, increased the difference to three with the goal he scored in the 37th minute.
In the 78th minute, Braga’s Oliveira Noro received a red card, leaving his team with 10 men. Benfica maintained its superiority in the remaining minutes and made its name into the final.
