Benamar’s tying goal gave FC Volendam hope again: “Resilience shown”

FC Volendam took its first point of the season today in the home match against Heracles Almelo (2-2). Thanks to Benaissa Benamar’s tying goal the Eel farmers again hoping for a good result. “Being at zero points was not pleasant.”

The 26-year-old defender was crowned man of the match. “Whether I thought I was the best player on the field? That is not important,” said Benamar. “It’s about getting points as a team. We had a very difficult time today, but fortunately we came back well.”

“It wasn’t good today. We conceded two unnecessary goals where we are not in a good position and have to be sharper. Then you are behind the times. But of course it is not over at 2-0,” said Benamar about the comeback of FC Volendam.

Entertaining audiences

FC Volendam coach Matthias Kohler was happy that his team could show resilience in the final phase. “We would like to entertain the audience, but that is not always easy. Then it is even better that you can come back to the match. Compliments to the entire group,” said Kohler.
